Are stone vessel sinks going out of style?

Remodelers and those choosing finishes for new bathroom projects always want to consider what is currently in style, and more importantly what will be in style in the future.  So the question is: are stone vessel sinks in style, and will they be in the future?

If you read remodeling magazines or visit interior design websites you will probably see a variety of opinions on the topic.  In my opinion, vessel sinks and stone sinks in particular are still very much in style.  Browse websites like Houzz.com for evidence.  Search the web for phrases like 'modern bathroom' or 'luxurious bathroom' and you will see an abundance of vessel sinks in the photographs.

In my opinion, certain types of vessel sinks will go out of style in the future including copper and glass sinks.  Stone sinks have been used in the construction process for thousands of years and I don't see that trend stopping any time soon.  Natural stone products are a sign of high value which is a hedge against style changes.  No one can predict the future, however high value products like marble, granite, travertine, stainless steel and hardwoods are good choices for those that want products that will hold value and be in style in the future.
